Dear Family and Friends,

My name is Joseph Sewedo Akoro, a human rights activist from Africa and very committed to the promotion and protection of rights based on sexual orientation and gender identity/expression.

I’m writing to tell you about an exciting opportunity. I was recently accepted into the 2014 IDEX Global Fellows Program (out of 1,700+ global applicants) that takes place in India this June! IDEX (www.idexfellowship.com) is a six-month professional fellowship for individuals seeking to gain emerging market experience while working to support enterprises in India that deliver social change to local and global communities. To date IDEX has supported over 130 college graduates and young professionals from all corners of the world to transition into high impact careers.

My personal desire to join IDEX is my observation of the need to reinforce my capacity in social enterprising such that it becomes useful in the advocacy of human rights particularly LGBT human rights worldwide.

IDEX is a tuition-based program that requires an investment from participants. The program will cover the cost for my housing during the fellowship and I must provide funding for my tuition, travel to and from India and living expenses. Therefore if I am able to fundraise is 4,000euros I will be able to join the cohort this June. This will only happen if I can raise the tuition.

The opportunity for me to launch a high impact career in human rights programming and advocacy begins now with preparing for this extraordinary journey. I’ve included links below to my online crowd-funding campaign. Your support in my future would mean a great deal to me as I take a bold step towards my dream of a freer world for ALL.
